The location really is perfect for getting around on a first visit to Ruidoso. We had a problem with the heater and the front desk person came immediately and when she couldn't fix it she promptly upgraded us to a new room. The rooms are just a bit small but still adequate for a nice stay. I appreciated having two luggage racks in a room for two people. Hotel was undergoing renovations but it didn't impact our stay. We initially had a room with a view as requested but the upgrade lacked a view.
All good!!! Just have to remember to ask for the safe charge to be removed from your bill if you didn't use it. We have stayed here many times over last 20 years. Works out great for us. We usually walk to nearby Wingfield park for exercise.
overall very satisfied, stayed here before few times, all personnel always courteous,helpful beds were confortable, breakfast as usual can be a little better, but then again i m not a big breakfast person
This is a Hotel that has great service friendly and professional, great scenery, close to shopping,and Starbucks, nice vacation hotel to stay, upgraded rooms , fresh coffee, and complimentary breakfast. I say leave a room for me on my return thank you for a good night/ days rest.Andre Thomas
I really don’t like that people mostly only post reviews when something is wrong. In this case, I think it is appropriate because the same issue keeps happening each time I stay at this hotel. I have stayed at this property several times and the check in and check out process is the same. When checking in they require your initials that you accept to pay for a room safe. Each time I tell them that I don’t want to use the safe and don’t want to have to pay the fee the clerk says, “Oh don’t worry, we have the keys back here and we know that you won’t be using it”. I said, “Well then how do I not pay for it?” Their response is, “You can tell us when you check out that you did not use it”. Really? Of course, it gets charged to the bill and no option is given to not pay for it. (Scam). As has happened previously and again this time, when I checked out, they said, “Oh, the internet is down so I can’t give you a receipt.” Wow. Modern technology. Their internet worked in my room 15 feet from the front desk but not at their computer. So, I had to check out without a receipt. And now it is up to me to somehow get the charge removed from my bill. Obviously, this 1980’s scam of charging for a “room safe” is just that, a scam. In the case of this property, they automatically charge you for something you don’t want, they don’t give you a choice, they don’t give you the key and then give the recurring excuse why you cannot have a receipt when you check out. I asked the clerk who the manager was and she said, “She only comes in about every five days”. I asked for the name of the company that owned the property and she said she didn’t know. I said, “You don’t know who you work for?” and she said, “No.” I ask for the managers last name and she said she didn’t know. Through other means I found out the name of the company that owns the property and the name of the manager. I contacted the owner and the manager and did not get a response. Apparently, the money they make on the room safe scam is worth more than a bad review and lost customer. Ruidoso is a nice town, the property is decent, but this slimy approach to make a dollar is just too much to stomach.
