August hier.
This is our favorite campground in the park. We stayed in loop B under the canopy of moss covered trees. The bathrooms were clean and campers respected the quiet hours. Each spot has a picnic table and fire ring. From the campground you can hike to Sol Duc Falls or the Lodge. From both areas there are several hiking trails that lead to the alpine region of the park. We parked our van for 4 days and did not have to move it once. The lodge has a small convenience store with many local beers and very affordable prices. The bathrooms have running water but do not have showers.

We had a decent site, near the river or creek. It was big, but not very private. There was no shrubbery or separation between the sites. Also a strange lack of bear boxes - one near the bathroom that didn't help us at all! We liked the campiest and the location was central. We enjoyed the hike from the campground to Sol Duc Falls and enjoyed it very much. We did go to the Hot Springs and liked that, too. So overall, a positive.
We have been staying in the RV section of the campground since 2015. While it's nothing special, you are in a National Park! The RV section is basically a larger parking area with electric and water hook-ups. (A dump station is located in area.) There is no bathroom or showers, although you can shower or use the bathroom in the lodge or walk to the "dry" campground bathrooms. If you're looking for a fancy RV resort, this isn't for you. If you want beautiful woodlands and hikes, I can't recommend it enough. If you want to use the Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort's pools, there is a fee. We also ate dinner every night at the lodge's restaurant. The food is quite good, particularly the salmon, but it is expensive. But then what National Park restaurant isn't pricey! As a second generation Washingtonian, I'm thrilled to have the Olympic National Park to visit each year.
We have camped several times over the many years from the time that our boys were little to just recently. The campsites are equipped with picnic tables and fire pits. Restroom/water are within reasonable distances from the sites. The campsites are rather closely spaced from one another and many of those in loop B are a "shelf" type site meaning that your vehicle/van/trailer is parked on the road level with the campsite up a few steps on another level. Many sites are right among very large second-growth trees adorned with moss and wild shrubs (red huckleberries). There are several trails to take in which for the most part are easy-going, just don't be in a hurry. Also if you are so inclined there are the hot springs soaking pools just a little ways down the road that one can either walk via a trail or drive to the parking lot.
