The wine region is always a reason to spend a few days in this setting.
Enjoying the landscape, tasting the wine, a trip out to the Thaya Valley National Park or a walk around the area - all good reasons to come to Retz. We have rooms available for you. Just give us a call or an email.
You'll be staying with us in an old town house in the middle of Retz. It was built in 1577 by the Retz town judge Veit Hoffmann. Most of our rooms are on the second floor. Our coffee / confectionery shop can be found on the ground floor with a small wine store.
Our rooms are named after our pastries. You have the choice between Julia(tart), Esterházy(slice), Apfelstrudel, Nationalpark(tart) or Kürbis(tart).
We are centrally located in the town centre near to the Althof Hotel, the main square and the entrance to the Retz Cellar Experience.
Thank you for choosing to stay with us and we will see you soon to greet you with a hearty "Servus" in the wine region.
The Wiklicky family
The television series "Julia - an unusual woman" was filmed in Retz and its surroundings and has made the town more famous. At the exhibition in the rooms of our confectionery shop you can learn more about the filming locations, have a browse through the scripts or enjoy a "Julia - Jause" snack.
This is made up of a large coffee with frothy milk, a Julia tart and mug to take away with you as a souvenir.
