Our country hotel lies in a beautiful, calm valley in Mariazellerland. Arriving along the country road through the forest is the perfect prelude to a relaxing stay, whichever season of the year it is.
As a family-run business, we are dedicated to ensuring the comfort and well-being of our guests, both in the rooms that we offer and in our beef specialty restaurant.
The focus here is on cows, namely on the Aberdeen Angus herds that we share the Lurg valley with.
Everything revolves around them. Over the years, their young become fully grown and are savoured in the Lurgbauer restaurant. Their manure is used as fertiliser to ensure they have lush pasture to graze on in the coming year. Guests at Lurgbauer love to photograph them and their hides are used to decorate the restaurant. Without cows there would be no Lurgbauer. And without Lurgbauer there would be no cows. We are part of that cycle – the balance between nature, animals and man.
After an enjoyable evening in our gourmet restaurant that was awarded three toques (www.lurgbauer.at), you can retire to one of our six comfortable rooms. In addition to four “Romantikzimmer” in the guest house, a “Wohlfühlzimmer” and the “Feldkasten-Chalet” are also available.
Natural materials such as wood, clay and walls insulated with sheep’s wool lend a cosy feel. Glass walls, free-standing bath tubs and simple, rustic elegance, combined with the romance of four-poster beds create a dreamy ambiance.
