The Grenerhof, of the Gsaller family ( Partner of the Hohe Tauern National Park), lies on the sunny slope, 2 km above the mountain village of Hopfgarten in the Defereggen valley. If you get to the farm from the Bergstraße you are rewarded by a great view of Hopfgarten itself, the Defreggen valley and the mountain scenery. The extremely secluded location is the perfect condition for a good rest. If you're looking to be close to nature and far from mass tourism you're in the right place.
The fantastic hiking possibilities in summer and autumn can be experienced directly from the house or be found in the nearby area. Aside from walks in the mountain landscape of the Hohe Tauern National Park, there are also some cultural sights worth seeing in East Tyrol and the area. The distance from the regional capital of Lienz is 25 km.
Hopfgarten lies directly in between the two skiing areas of the Großglockner resort (Matrei - Kals- view of 60 mountains) and the fantastic family skiing area of Brunalm in St. Jakob im Defereggental, each 15 km from Hopfgarten and able to be reached by the ski bus. In the town itself there is also a small ski lift (ideal for beginners) - opening hours are available according to a sign in the place itself.Aside from a food store in the centre of town and a bank you will also find some hotels and inns in which you can be pampered with good food.In the centre there's the Hotel Zedernklang **** (2 gourmet restaurant), the Hotel Mühlenhof***, the Kohlplatzl inn and the cafe restaurant elf07 or further over the Bergstraße from the accomodation towards Lerch Lerch (2 km) there is the popular mountain inn Maschlerhof.
